What I remember most about my college process:
I was fortunate to have attended an independent school that had a dedicated college advisor. I applied to six colleges, focusing on medium sized, academically strong schools. My advisor helped me build a college list with safety, target and reach schools. It wasn’t until I went on college visits that I realized how important sports teams and school spirit was to my school experience.

What I remember most about my college process:
When I was going through the college application process, I felt overwhelmed by all the choices, and without guidance, chose schools that appealed to my 17-year-old brain. Looking back, if I had a knowledgeable person helping me, I would have picked colleges that were a better fit for me and ultimately would have had a better college experience.
Advice
“Shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”
- Think about how you learn best and find a college that accommodates your learning style.
- Stay open to new ideas, subjects, people, foods… College is a time of exploration and growth.
- Take courses that interest you but aren’t necessarily part of the coursework for your major.
- Get involved! Participate in college clubs, extracurricular activities, internships.
- Get to know your professors and take advantage of any help available.
